Ive made a lot of Assets in previous versions of Affinity Designer. Now i just realized in 2.5.3 they are ALL gone.

Where can i find the old one and how to get them in the newer version of Affinity Designer 2?

Mac OSX Ventura 13.4

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the delayed response, @OleT.

Please confirm:

  1. What you mean by "previous versions"? Do you mean, for example, 1.10? Or perhaps 2.4?
  2. Why you're using 2.5.3? The current V2 release is 2.5.6 (though it may have been 2.5.5 when you posted).

Is the verison important? Somewhere on the way after updating från 1 to 2 all assets is gone. I just try to get someone to explane where the files were located in V1 and where are they in V2 and how to migrate them in V2. Or have they ben located in many different locations?

Is it a problem to use 2.5.3, is this issue fixed in 2.5.5?

Best regards Ole

The version is important, because version 2 is not an update to version 1, it is a new installation.

If you delinstalled version 1.x before you installed V2.x, then all assets and other additional content (brushes, color swashes, etc.) are in digital nirvana.

Normally, the programs ask whether this additional content should be migrated the first time they are started after installation.

If you still have V1 installed (or its system user folder at least) you could copy/paste the file "assets.propcol" into the according V2 folder. Or you may export the Assets from V1 and import them in V2.

Or you may try to migrate the Assets into the according V2 folder: launch the V2 app with the CTRL-key pressed and select the related option:

• MacBookPro Retina 15" |  macOS 10.14.6  | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
• iPad 10.Gen.  |  iOS 18.5.  |  Affinity V2.6

Yes. We need to know the version where you had the Assets working, and the version where they are not working, and the details of how you got from one to the other.

(Also, you seem to have at least two active topics for this problem, and the conversation is fragmented between them. That is not a good way to get a solution.)

Sorry i started a new topic since i didnt get any respond.

I have no idea when or what version i had when it disappeared since it has been some upgrades both in V1 and V2. And i dont use my Assets daily.  So actually i cant tell.

But as i have seen i am not the only one that had this problem so i hoped that the Affinity guys could tell what they have done since this happened to many users and how to solve it.

Best regards
Ole

You're welcome.

If you're still trying to do this, a screenshot of your Assets panel may be useful as it could suggest to us the best recovery mechanism for you to use. For example, if all Assets are gone (even the pre-installed ones) and if you're unable to import them again, you may need to start the application with the Ctrl key pressed and Reset the Assets, then reload anything that didn't come with the application (or from the Affinity Store) manually.
