DarkClown Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 I'm trying to construct a spiral that looks like the center point is pulled up (see attached pic). Has anyone an idea how to create/contruct such an object that looks evenly perfect? prophet Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 VERY rough concept, but you could see about using a symbol at various scales. Could get quite tedious, though. Screen Recording 2024-11-25 at 11.28.41 AM.mov Quote
DarkClown Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 Thx, Prophet, I get the concept ... but this is also far a way from looking "perfect" (or even close to). In my approach I started with a spiral, deformed it and was trying to move the anchor points accoordingly - but there seems to be no way to do this in a structured way so the result looks "good" ... NotMyFault Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Use a 3D app. There is no way to achieve the look in 2D apps (except tracing exports of 3D apps). David in Яuislip Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 I tend to agree with NotMyFault, I got nowhere with Affinity so turned to Inkscape First draw a helix or do what I did and borrow one from wikipedia Actually, it's not a helix but made from bits to look like one so the first job is to join the bits Then apply Path Effects/ Perspective This is my first attempt, needs a bit of refinement Note the copyright requirements of the wikipedia page if you decide to use it 060322_helixPointy.svg Quote Microsoft Windows 11 Home, Intel i7-1360P 2.20 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Intel Iris Xe Affinity Photo - 24/05/20, Affinity Publisher - 06/12/20, KTM Superduke - 27/09/10
carl123 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Are not spirals//helixes mostly constructed from the same repeating pattern which just decreases in size The Move/Duplicate function may "help simplify" the creation of such a shape from a base shape (shown in black below) Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
