jamesbowtine Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 OK I give up ... Reset Studio doesn't work, neither does any of the zoom options. This happens 'frequently' and is so frustrating. Is there some magical way to make the GUI interface (applies to Photo, Publisher and Designer) come back to fit inside the monitor screen when it randomly extends beyond the reach of the interface surround? As example, nicely working in Designer, then suddenly, the GUI drops below the bottom (or top, or left or right) of the monitor screen where it is now impossible to find an edge to click to manually reduce back inwards. I do love the software and all that it has achieved, but some really niggling simple bugs should really have been fixed by now: 1. When saving a document, the very next time you open it, please don't show the alert 'do you want to recover the file as it is damaged'. 2. When completing a simple move in Photo, everything is still selected, and it's a faff having to try and deselect every time (see Photoshop for better example of what do do). And 3. No matter what you do or don't do, that GUI 'is' extending off the screen and you can waste so much time trying to make it fit inside the screen again. Quote

Also, which OS are you using? I use a dual-monitor Windows set-up and some dialog boxes often open off the screen I am using the application in and I have to drag them back to the screen I’m using. This also sometimes happens after I have dragged the dialog back onto the screen I am using, meaning that I have to drag it back again. All quite annoying. Is that what is happening to you, or are you getting something different? If you can record and share a video of it happening, telling us what you did just before it happened, then that might help. jamesbowtine Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 If you check above, you'll see the user interface extends beyond the size of the working area / monitor screen. Because of this, there's no way to actually grab the bottom to lift it up again. But this can happen when it jumps to the left or right or above. OS X 15.0.1 ... but has happened on all slightly older versions of the OS i.e. X 14 etc. Quote
Old Bruce Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Try Window > Zoom. If that doesn't work hold down the option key and click on the green button, this should zoom to the Fill Screen for the main Designer window. kat 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
jamesbowtine Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 Yes, Old Bruce, that did it. Note that the green button extended not only the bottom below the screen but the top, so I figured that was potentially game over (as reset studio doesn't work on mine) ... however, it jumped and I could access the green button again 'just'. But holding 'option' did bring up a sub dialogue which allowed me to click a few variations to get the screen back into view. As this is happening on all Affinity software for me, maybe it's worth trying to fix this bug and/or bring attention to that fix. That said, 'thank you' Mr. Bruce. Quote
