Juhani Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 I'm trying to map ⌘esc as a keyboard shortcut for Deselect (like it is in Sketch). Affinity Photo maps it as ⌘⎋ but when I hit ⌘esc it does not work. Neither does ⇧esc or ⌃esc. Can you please make the esc key available for shortcut mapping? ironchestgames 1 Quote Affinity 2.6.0 Beta | macOS Sequoia 15.2 | MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro/16GB (2021) | XPPen Artist Pro 16 (Gen 2)

Oddly here on my Mac if I don't change anythign in the Shortcuts the Escape key on its own will deselect everything, as will the default Command + D. ironchestgames Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I have the exact same problem as OP. macbook 2022 m2, Sequioa, Affinity Designer 2.5.7. Escape does nothing for me, it's not good for keeping productivity. I expect escape to deselect current input field/tool/panel/whatever and get me back to Move tool. Instead nothing happens. Quote
Juhani Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 Yes, still waiting for this very much. Sometimes Esc deselects currently selected object or cancels a dialog box at the foreground but sometimes it doesn't. In fact it's very inconsistent and unpredictable. Also, when you have an active cursor in a text box you need multiple Esc key hits (I think 3) to deselect everything, while the Cmd+D deselects everything immediately. This would be still fine if Cmd+Esc programmed as the master Edit>Deselect would work, but at the moment it does not.
