Hello all,

In working with a book file, I have dual page numbers in the Pages panel. (See the attached.) Now that I'm down to the indexing, the index panel is using the page numbers not in the parentheses. Those numbers aren't what the actual page numbers will be in the finished book. Ack.

Any ideas?

Most likely you have a section that changed the page numbering from Continue to Start on...

Check page 36.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Hi Old Bruce! As usual, you've fixed the stated problem. Unfortunately, the index is using the the "old" page numbers e.g. Index topic "community". This shows up on multiple page numbers, all of which are the 158,159 (for example) not the (122, 123).  At what point do the old page numbers disappear and the real ones take over?

Am I being particularly obtuse with this? So frustrating to not understand.

My knowledge of the Index feature is limited.

If this is a Book file with separate "Chapters", meaning separate Publisher documents gathered into a book you may need to save the separate documents and then update the book file.

I've tested this long ago and again just now with a Book and chapters and I'm unable to duplicate the issue. The first document in the book has pages numbered i, ii, iii... v. The chapters are numbered from 1 and the index always uses those numbers as shown in the Books panel, not the absolute numbers.

If somebody else can't duplicate this issue, Serif might need to see your files to determine the problem. If there's any other information you can share publicly to help sort this out it would be helpful.

Well, hellz bellz Mike. This project has been one thing after another. However, I just went back in and hit Update on the Index panel and by george, it updated to the correct page numbers. Why didn't that work before? Why am I even asking?

So nevermind. But, thank you and Old Bruce for helping with these related, why-me, issues. If I ever finish this book project it will be because you all have been there for me!

All the Best!

Harrington
