Good day,

we are having an issue after exporting to an PDF. The text is not copyable from the PDF. I found this forum post where it was a layer effect. With our PDF it seems to be the font FuturaT. With another font, the text is selectable from the exported PDF. But changing the font in 156 pages will be a real hassle, especially because the PDF is already in the printery and we only have to provide the PDF for online services. We tried OCR-ing it with ABBYY FineReader, but that causes picture quality loss. The strange thing is, that when we do the export from Affinity not through the export dialog and instead use the print dialog/save as PDF, it works just fine with the FuturaT font. Except we always get a gap between pages (have to export as sheet). Meaning, the PDF rendering engine from the MacOS (Ventura 13.7.1) works as expected, the PDF rendering engine from Affinity V2 (2.5.5 and 2.6 Beta tested) does not.

Does anyone else has any experience with this kind of issue?

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Mathias

After emailing back and forth with the support from Affinity (thank you!!!), we finally found the reason and a solution. The font is a Type 1 font, that isn't supported by the Affinity PDF engine anymore, neither under MacOS 14 and above. We still work with Ventura (13.7.1), so the systems PDF engine is still supporting the Type 1 font. That's what caused the confusion. Solution for us was to convert the font with the software TransType 4 and the export went just fine.
