Tmod700 Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 (edited) Just purchased Photo 2 and noticed a very long load time, Is this normal for this program on Windows? Win10 22H2 x64 32GB Sys Memory Video card RX580 8gb Mem DirectX 12.0 AMD 8 Core @ 4000 mhz I went in and unticked the OpenCL in settings > performance. Added a recording of just the process for loading Affinity Photo 2, Not sure if the process is normal or not but when loading the splash screen is in the background and says loading data. Also CPU utilization was right around the 13.4% mark and Memory utilization was right around the 2.8% mark so not even close to using everything the system has. mopperle Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 On my 6 year old system it takes 15 sec. to load. Maybe your AV software is the problem? Quote Regards, Otto Affinity Suite v2.6.x - Windows 11 Pro
Rontrus Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 I just bought Affinity Photo hoping to escape the Adobe gang, but the loading time is unbelievable. While Photoshop CS5 (!) can easily load 100 raw files into Camera Raw within 5 seconds on my not-so-new PC, Affinity takes forever to load even a couple of raw files and crashes when trying to load 100. This seems to be a common problem, but is there a fix in sight? Unfortunately this is a crucial point for me. Best regards Rontrus Quote
carl123 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Edit > Settings > Performance Try switching off Hardware Acceleration And just opening a few RAW files at a time (not 100) and see if that is faster Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Rontrus Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Yes, I've read about this solution before, but that does not change anything. Just as an aside, I am no computer expert, but it sounds odd to me, that disabeling an acceleration should speed up something ... 🤒 Rontrus Quote

Rontrus Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 (edited) I doubt that this will shed any light on the problem, but anyway: Intel i5-8250U @ 1,6 GHz, 1800 MHz Windows 11 24 GB RAM Intel UHD Graphics 620 The raw files stem from a very widespread 24-megapixel-camera, and it makes no tangible difference if I load them as original Nikon raws (NEF) or after conversion to DNG. Because I am dealing with lots of raws regularly, which have to be treated similarily (e. g. focus stacking), the exact loading duration of affinity's raw import is of little importance for me: It takes much too long. Addendum: Is it possible to have raws thumbs displayed as filmstrips like in Camera Raw? Edited November 24, 2024 by Rontrus Quote
