wintermute Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 I noticed that changing the leading parameter by keyboard shortcut (alt+↑ alt+↓) worked until change this parameter in the window "character - position and transform". After that the text dont react to this keyord shortcut. Is this a bug or intentional and intuitive functionality? Quote

If you take a look at the tooltip for this field it says "Leading Override" and therefore it may appear clear that the leading (set as Paragraph attribute) gets overridden if you enter a value (overwrite;•) for this character attribute. As a consequence, changing the paragraph leading may have no influence. 32 minutes ago, wintermute said: But you linked AP help not AD. You have some problem with reading/understanding or both? No, @Return linked to the help of APub, not AP. – LOL? Nevertheless, and concerning reading/understanding or both, among many other features in Affinity apps also the text style attributes work with the same interface and the same way in several Affinity apps. For such features and attributes it does not matter whether you link or read the article for AD, APh or APub and you even can set these properties in every of the 3 apps, regardless were you started the layout or initially created the text frame: Leading is leading and leading override is leading override, even in apps and help articles other than Affinity. My English is not excellent but I was writing about something else. I know what leading is and i now have to set and modify leading. By keyboard shortcut or by input some values in proper windows. Clue is that if I set leading by control window I lose possiblity to to modify it by keyboard shortcut. Keyboard shortcut for setting leading don't work any more. Sorry for being ale little vicious but RTFM is not a solution in this case. Quote

Yes, once leading override is set/modified* the text does not react on a changed paragraph leading value, regardless where and how you changed this in the interface. If you watch the 'Leading' field in the Paragraph Panel with activated 'leading override': Does the keyboard shortcut modify the numerical value in the 'Leading' field* – but 'just' without visible influence on the text in the layout? Sorry. I should restart software or system beafore writting post - because today it work according to expectation. Setting character leading in widows do not affect to setting paragraph leading by keyboard. Quote

Setting character leading in widows do not affect to setting paragraph leading by keyboard. I am not sure if you really understand the feature & its interface. If this behaves as it should, it depends on where you look at: text frame OR panel/value field. • If you activate 'Leading Override' in the Character Panel (= enter a value other than the auto/default value displayed in brackets), then … … it should always change the paragraph leading in the text frame. … it should never change the numerical value in the field(s) for paragraph leading. • If you change the Paragraph leading with your keyboard shortcut then … its value in the field(s) should always change, regardless of your setting for 'Leading Override'. … its leading visible in the text frame should never change if 'Leading Override' is activated. Back to your first post / the topic of this thread: It should never happen that using the keyboard shortcut to change paragraph leading does not change its value – but it may happen that the change does not affect the spacing visible in the text frame. wintermute 1 Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6
