SoCalDave Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Hi folks, I'm in a photo class where we upload our pix each week. I'll open the raw file, edit and then do an export to jpg using the naming convention the instructor wants. When I upload to smugmug, it's using the "Title" name instead of the jpg name I gave it. I thought I could edit in that field but even if I change it it'll revert back (probably why the field is greyed out). In the attached, you'll see the metadata title is "Porsche2" which is not the jpg name at all. Any ideas? Quote
mopperle Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Did you check if there is a specific setting at smugsmug which forces to use the title? When editing the metadata and saving the file (either as .aphoto or exporting it as jpeg) and opening them again, I have no problems to edit the meatadata. Which OS and version of Photo? mopperle Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 To add regarding the worflow: - you open a RAW file - you edit and then develop the raw file - now you can edit the metadata - you save the file as .aphoto -you export it Quote Regards, Otto Affinity Suite v2.6.x - Windows 11 Pro
SoCalDave Posted November 19, 2024 Author Posted November 19, 2024 2nd time is the charm - I think the first time I tried I didn't tab out of that field; simply typed in it and then saved. It's working now - Thanks all! Quote
mopperle Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Glad you got it working SoCalDave 1 Quote Regards, Otto Affinity Suite v2.6.x - Windows 11 Pro
Ldina Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 @SoCalDave I saw you got this working, so this may be a moot point...also, I don't do a lot with metadata, so take this with a grain of salt! I don't know what your filename was, but I noticed your "Title" was Porche2 in the metadata. If I open a Raw file, bring it into AP and save it, it inserts my file name (as opened) into the Metadata > File > Title field (assuming I don't add a name of my own). If I manually ADD a new name into the Metadata Title field, that will remain in metadata, and will not match my filename. This also shows up in exported JPGs, PNGs, TIFFs, etc. You may already know that, but it was worth mentioning, FWIW. SoCalDave Posted November 19, 2024 Author Posted November 19, 2024 Thanks Ldina, I've never had a need to mess with those fields, so it's interesting how they work. Thanks. Ldina 1 Quote
