Hi guys,

White bright light screen testing is a fantastic way to check the status of your screen, and I highly recommend it for recognize display issues. While using Affinity Designer 2 on my iPad, I used a bright screen to see if there were any problems, and I noticed that the screen occasionally dims during use. This dimming made it harder to manage my work and seems to happen only while using Affinity Designer.

Aside from the dimming issue, Affinity Designer started lagging a lot recently. I received a warning from iOS saying the iPad was running out of memory because Affinity was using too much space. I tried deleting some files and saving others locally to free up space. After closing and reopening Affinity Designer, it became stuck and unresponsive.

I restarted my iPad and relaunched Affinity, but it’s still stuck. Between the dim screen and these app issues. I’m scared I have lost all my work.

Has anyone else experienced these problems, and are there any solutions?

This isn't something I'm observing and as far as I'm aware isn't something can can be configured in-app; it could be related to the 'Auto Brightness' setting in iPad System Settings -> Accessibility -> Display & Text size. This setting auto-adjusts the brightness in relation to the surrounding light conditions.

There is a known issue where the iPad apps can continually build up cache space over time which can only be reclaimed by removing and reinstalling the app again. This issue has been fixed in the current 2.6 beta apps. If you'd like to sign up and download I've provided a link below to the sign-up page to help get you started.
