@Desie It would have been better if you had asked this in the appropriate “Questions” section of the forums rather than in the “Share your work” section as the “Share your work” section is for people to show the things they have created with the software, a bit like a gallery, rather than ask questions.

No harm has been done, but posting questions in the “Questions” section is often likely to get you an answer more quickly.

A moderator might move this thread for you so there’s no need to duplicate this elsewhere.

I presume you meant to type ‘text block’. Which Affinity app(s) are you using, and on what platform (macOS, Windows, or iPadOS)? What are the version numbers for the app(s) and the operating system?

The font in your screenshot looks like Lucida Calligraphy. Does the problem occur with other fonts? I wouldn’t expect superscript to be the default for a lowercase n, but you may have invoked the feature accidentally.

Edit: Garry’s follow-up post looks as though it points to the solution.

Can anyone explain why this is happening ?  I have deleted the entire text lock and it happens again. It’s driving me nuts

Highlight the text.

Then in the Typography panel disable Superscript.

In some fonts it could also be Ordinals.

What font is that?
