Hello,

I'm looking to format the running header of my endnotes section following the Chicago Manual of Styles (CMOS) point 14.42 (16th edition), which reads as follow:

Quote

Where endnotes are gathered at the back of a printed book and occupy more than two or three pages, running heads (both verso and recto) carrying the page numbers to which the notes pertain are a boon to readers. To determine what text page numbers to use on a particular page of notes, find the numbers of the first and last notes beginning on that page (disregarding a runover from a previous page) and locate the references to these notes in the text. The numbers of the first and last pages on which these references appear in text are the numbers to use in the running head: for example, “Notes to Pages 123–125.” The last number is not abbreviated;

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way in Publisher to reference the page range of the notes in the way described above. And since there is no script function, doing that really seems like a lost cause, at least for now...

Here's the thing: this kind of function doesn't seem to be native in any publishing software. That's a great opportunity for Publisher to distinguish itself even further! If Serif could find a way to integrate a function that would allow this kind of formatting, that'd be awesome!

Hoping this suggestion is taken into consideration in the (near!) future.

Running headers might do what you want. Choose the Character style you have for the page number in the notes and then use the first and last on page.

Notes to pages <Running header> -  <Running header>

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

It's more complicated than that so please see the steps I provided at the link
