I encountered an export bug in Affinity Designer version 2.5.5.
Every PDF Export ends with weird special characters all over the place.

Exporting it to an image format works fine.

Can somebody help me with this?

Hi @Duskolo,

Which font is used for the bullets and table?

Can you upload your Publisher file so we can take a look?

Hi @Duskolo,

Many thanks for the file... I've tested it on both Windows and Mac and it's exporting without issue which likely suggests you have a font conflict on your PC...

Check that you don't have multiple versions of Montserrat installed and if you don't, uninstall the version you do have installed, then reopen your Publisher file and see if the text is substituted for a font other than the fallback font...

If you also take a look at the fonts used in the exported PDF where you see the font issue (File → Properties or Ctrl D in Acrobat Reader), which fonts are listed in the Fonts tab?

Hi @Hangman

Thanks for the hint! I opened the document and checked out the fonts.

Somehow Acrobat does not recognize the font-type.
I will double-check the installed font in Windows and uninstalled montserrat but somehow it seems like it was still installed.

Therefore I just completely switched to Roboto and then of course the export worked fine.
Thanks again for your help!

I may be wrong but that sounds like you have more than one version of Montserrat installed, possibly even located in different folders but I'm glad you've found a resolution for now... :)

It could also be that you're using a Type 1 version of Montserrat. Type 1 fonts are being deprecated from PDFLib, the library that the Affinity apps use, though AFAIK they should still be supported with the current version...
