Benwiggy2 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I've converted this glyph from a font into curves. But I can't select the dots separately from the rest of it. It's all one object, seemingly. No Layers, no groups. Rubber-banding does nothing unless it covers all of it. I presume it's obvious. Be gentle. Quote
Brian_J Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 The “dots” on curves are called nodes, and they can be selected and edited with the Node Tool. https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/Tools/tools_node.html Quote Windows 10 22H2 | Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 (MSI/EXE)
Benwiggy2 Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 So the only way to separate them is to make duplicates, and delete the bits I don't want...? I know about nodes, but I just didn't think that that would be how you'd do it. I was expecting something a bit simpler, like a command to make them separate objects. Quote
Benwiggy2 Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 Ah: of course -- the Divide Tool. "You're guaranteed to find the answer after posting on a forum...!" Old Bruce 1 Quote
Brian_J Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Glad you got it figured out. I meant to provide a link to the Edit Curves and Shapes help page, which explains different operations available with the Node Tool. For example, you can break or split curves. https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/CurvesShapes/edit_linesAndShapes.html Boolean operation and the Knife Tool can be used to accomplish things as well. https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/ObjectControl/cutting.html Quote Windows 10 22H2 | Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 (MSI/EXE)
Benwiggy2 Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 Yes, I tried using the knife around the dots, but that didn't work. I know the basics about nodes -- I just didn't think node-work would be relevant for this. Brian_J 1 Quote

Or in AD use Layer > Geometry >Separate Curves or if you have the Geometry group on the toolbar use the Separate Curves button.
