Crashing when making a line and creating a new layer

1. I'm using Affinity Photo on the latest version (2.5.5)
2. The bug is totally reproducable. When you're drawing, if you create a new layer while tracing, the application crashes. It's pretty common for me to happen since i have a pen with a button assigned to new layer.
3. It happens in new documents as well, but just on the Pixel mode.
4. It happens everywhere i tested so a sample is not neccesary.   
   I use Windows 11.

•    Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? (and have you tried the other setting?)
• The program crashed while drawing and creating a new layer at the same time. I expected to stop drawing and create a new layer, or wait until i finished drawing.
•  Open whichever document > get on the brush tool > draw whatever and, at the same time you're drawing, try to create a new layer from the shortcut (ctrl + shift + N) > program crashes.
•    Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video.
•    Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers.
•    Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware)

Hello @hachatml and welcome to the forums.

I would recommend that you switch off all unnecessary background tasks, e.g. the moving desktop background, as these can affect the real-time calculation and display of UI elements, the drawing tools or Live Adjustment Layer and Live Filter Layer, among other things. A crash report could provide information about the cause of the crash.

I can confirm that the crash also happens on Windows 10 and MacOS. If not already logged someone in the moderation team will pick this up and log it as a bug...

The issue "Crash when creating a new layer (shortcut) while drawing with a brush" (REF: AF-5088) has been fixed by the developers in the latest beta build (2.6.0.2984). The fix is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
