Selection tool

I am struggling to change the selection tool from cross hairs really frustrating  it was normal yesterday but cannot get it off now

Did you hit the caps lock key?

Brush selection tool the one with marching ants , no my caps lock isn't on I saw that online and tried putting caps lock on and off but no joy

I do believe that for that tool, the Flood Select tool has always worked that way.

Either use the [] keys to increase/decrease the brush size.
Or use ctrl+alt+dragging left/right to increase/decrease the brush size.
