Clive40 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Since updating from V1 to V2 most image thumbnails have been replaced with application icons in Windows 10 File Explorer. Locating a particular file has become a tedious process. I would be grateful for any help that may be available to resolve this issue. Quote
mopperle Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I have no problems with the preview thumbnails in Windows 11 explorer. Open the settings in Affinity and in the "General" section make sure that "save thumbnail with document" is checked. Quote Regards, Otto Affinity Suite v2.6.x - Windows 11 Pro
walt.farrell Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Did you install using the MSIX version of the installer, or the MSI/EXE version of the installer, @Clive40? Also, where are the files located, and is the folder they're in managed by any cloud service? Clive40 Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 Hi Walt Thanks for your interest in the problem I'm experiencing. I used the installer recommended by Affinity at the time of downloading and installing but I can't remember which one it was. The files are located on my PC. I do have photos backed up by iCloud, is this likely to be a factor? Quote
walt.farrell Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Thanks. Yes, that's probably the MSIX, though I don't know if it matters in this case. Does the problem happen for files that are not located in a folder that is managed by OneDrive? If they show correctly in other folders, but not in folders managed by OneDrive, then I think you are experiencing a known OneDrive issue, which was explained by a former Serif staff member here: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Thanks. I misread. Same question applies, though the cause would be different in that case. Clive40 Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 My mistake, I meant One Drive and not iCloud when I responded to Walt's response to my original post. After a cursory check I think that the problem may be associated with One Drive. I'll investigate further when time permits. In the meantime my thanks to all who have responded. walt.farrell 1 Quote
