Windows 11 desktop version.   If I apply and adjustment layer, then invert the adjustment layer, and then paint with a white brush, nothing happens.  In earlier releases, that process works to apply the adjustment to a specific area of the image.  For example, open any image.  Add a Black&White adjustment layer.  then invert the adjustment layer.  Then select the paint brush tool, set the color to white, and paint.  Nothing happens.  What happens in ealier versions is the B&W effect is applied where I paint.

For what it is worth, here on my Mac I do not see this.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Check all the brush settings in the context toolbar and colour panel e.g. Opacty, Blend Mode, Protect Alpha (Should be 100%, Normal, Off)

Add a new pixel layer and paint on it. Does this work?
