AnnaLeonore98 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Hello, I've been working with Affinity Publisher for years now and never had any serious issues. However I am struggling to open a file I have been working on for a few weeks now. It is a file created in Affinity Publisher and a normal .afpub file, and I never had any issues opening it until this evening. It keeps saying the file format is not supported. Any advice would be much appreciated as I am at risk of loosing 100+ working hours in case I am not able to resolve the issue... Thank you! Quote
Hangman Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Hi @AnnaLeonore98, That is usually a sign that the file might be corrupted but if it's a file you're happy to upload or DM a link to if you'd rather not share it in the forums and include any Linked files by zipping them up I'd be happy to take a quick look for you... Hangman Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Hi @AnnaLeonore98, Many thanks for your file... Unfortunately, the file is badly corrupted, it's missing both its header and footer and the file table entries are pointing at clusters that contain no data... I'm hoping you have backups of your file to revert to so you can continue working on your project... It is generally recommended to keep all files on your internal Hard Drive while working on them, just in case your files are stored on External or Cloud Drives... AnnaLeonore98 Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 Oh damn it, thank you though! What can I do to prevent this in the future? Quote

I’d personally keep all files on your Hard Drive (if they’re not already) while working with them and make regular backups… Quote Affinity Designer 2.6.3 | Affinity Photo 2.6.3 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.3 MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse
