Ernst Wilhelm Grüter Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 My friend is telling me, that his daugther made a gift to him by purchasing a affinity licence for him. She was sending the licence code to him by email. Don't know exactly which software he's talking about exactly. My apologies, but I decided to believe my friend. So please don't laugh. Is there any possibiity to activate the software with this licence code. If yes, can you please tell me the was how to make it. Thanks in advance, Ernst Wilhelm Grüter Quote
walt.farrell Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Welcome to the Affinity forums, Ernst. There are no license codes for Affinity V2 applications, as far as I know. At least for Personal licenses. And Affinity V1 licenses are no longer offered for sale. For Affinity V2, and again for Personal licenses, licenses can be purchased via the Affinity Store (https://affinity.store) or as an in-app purchase when the applications are downloaded from the Microsoft Store or the Mac App Store or the iPad App Store. For purchases from the Affinity Store, license validation occurs using the email address and password setup at the Affinity Store by the purchaser of the license. And basically you cannot purchase a license for someone else without giving them the email address and password for your Affinity Store account. It is possible, I think, to buy a gift card for a specific amount from the Microsoft Store or the Apple Stores, and give that gift card to someone. And then, if the recipient downloads the app from the same Store, and uses an in-app purchase, they can probably use the gift card to pay for the purchase. And doing that purchase using the gift card probably uses some kind of code, but it wouldn't be a license codes. Matthew_H Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Oh no. I just completed the purchase. I was so excited to gift two items (Photo to one person and the Suite to another). So, let me ask again. If they install the trial versions, will they be able to use the license (key) I purchased for them or not? Affinity is excellent software, and the fact that it requires no subscription makes it a wonderful gift, that is if licensing doesn't become an issue. How should I proceed? Quote
GarryP Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Welcome to to the forums @Matthew_H The most recent post by walt.farrell above should give you the answer you need. Basically, if you have purchased the licence then that’s your licence and you cannot transfer/gift it to someone else. Depending on when you purchased the licence you might be able to get a refund, and then send/transfer the money to the person who you want to give the gift to so they can purchase a licence for themselves. Any longer than that means you can’t get a refund under any circumstances. https://store.serif.com/help/#returns Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
