.eb Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 What good are autosaves if they require the original file ? This is excessively bad decision making. Hi, I had an SSD crash and I lost my master files. I had set a "BACKUP" for autosaves.. so I *thought* I had saved backups of important files!!! **NOPE** - While I have gigs of "Autosave" files that were saved to a folder that was defined under the option of the Program's Settings, under tab: "BACKUP". --- THE FILES ARE NOT AUTOSAVES NOR BACKUPS! They are containers of data that are completely useless without the original file! ..you can not makeup how stupid this is. IF THEY ARE "BACKUPS" as the settings UI claims.. then why are they called "Autosaves" ? Autosaves and Backups are not supposed to be useless container files! I have autosave files that are 200MB.. completely useless. The program demands the original file. I PURPOSELY didn't "link" the images used as so the backup would contain the files.. and now I learn the backup/autosaves are completely useless without the master file ? This. is. epic. tier. daft. And from other reports, on Mac, "frequently" may actually be "always". @.eb: The Autosave function is not a backup function. It is a function to help recover from application or system failures, allowing you to recover the work done during a single application session. Backup is a function the user must provide, via TimeMachine (macOS) or other backup strategy/application (macOS, or Windows).
