Mochairou Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Hello, I have been working on a publication for more than a year now. We're on Tome 2... and I have been working with the same Text Styles in Tome 1 and Tome 2... in Affinity 1, the Text Styles would be all wonky too sometimes, most commonly the text would change size and become 4 pts or 8 pts instead of 12 pts... and I would painstakingly Edit font size in each style, one by one. It got where I included the font size in the text style title, and I would (and still do) Save As with the days date and numeric version, so I don't find myself with a document corrupted by Affinity... So... now I want to add transfer a chapter of Tome 2 to the last of Tome 1... about 20 pages of text with some pictures... the Add pages from file function worked well, I chose to import text styles too and found myself with text styles doubled but I was fine with that. I worked on it for a couple of hours and then saved the file (Save As) one last time. When I tried to open it 2 days later, a message popped up that Affinity could not open the file. So... I redid it again, two days ago... (Add pages from file, Save As)... but this time chose not to import Text Styles... I worked on it for a couple of hours and closed the file and closed the program. Yesterday, when I reopened my file, all the Text Styles that were supposed to be 12 pts or 16 pts were now 25 pts... OK, so dealt with that by going one by one and changing font size to 12 or 16, accordingly... My issue, though, is the bullet. I can't find how to change the bullet, that went from a reasonable 12 pts size to, what I guess would be the 25 pts size (see images). Does anyone have a suggestion? It's important to keep the diamond and I have two 200-page books with this diamond as a bullet... I tried importing the two troublesome Text Styles from previous versions, but the issue of the large diamond remains... I have also tried deleting the existing style and importing from another document, but still, the large diamond remains... First screen shot shows the text at 12 pt and the too large bullet, bullet should be lowercase height... Marie Quote
Mochairou Posted November 14, 2024 Author Posted November 14, 2024 I found a solution! By creating a 6pt character style and appointing that style as "Based on"... Hope this helps someone else! Hope also that Affinity figures out how to lock Text Styles... Quote
MikeTO Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 There's a feature to do this directly. Specify the character style for the bullet with the Paragraph > Bullets & Numbering > Style feature. Just set the character style you want applied to the bullet and in that style you can define its size. Note that there's a known bug with this feature - if you edit the style after choosing it, you must set it to a different style and then back to the one you edited for the change to take effect.
