I think by now it is possible to not only import dwg, but also export. That is great, but then systems reading dwg are normally Autocad, and other cad systems. It would be really beneficial if Designer could export to an autocad readable format, like a 2004 autocad standard or alike. That makes more sence when also importing dwg files. I hope this is something worth working with in the future.

Is the current selection of versions/formats not sufficient?

I think this includes all newer versions of AutoCAD since 2000.
