When a Mask is not a mask anymore

If I move a mask, lets say from a layer to another layer, it does not show as a mask anymore.
Yes, it is collapsed in the little arrow and I can work on it, but it does not show the thumnail. It is not important inside Affinity Photo, but If I export this to a PSD file these masks are not exported.


Is there a way to mantain these moved masks as a normal mask?

Welcome to Affinity Forums
Drag the mask over the thumbnail of the other layer, not over the layer name area.

If you drag it over the layer's thumbnail it's used as a mask.
If you drag it over the layer's name it becomes clipped instead.

But now a new question... What is the difference inside Affinity?
