VectorWhiz Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Since the upgrade to 2.0.6.2831 Publisher crashes on attempting to Export. As soon as the generation of Preview starts, the program crashes. I am working on a book with a lot of embedded graphics (from page 8 to 33 for the time being), tried to export many times, but it continues to crash. When finished there will be a lot more graphics in the book. I am running Publisher on Windows 11 and have previously installed all betas, that did not crash on Export. Update Nov 13 2024 - Problem remains after upgrading to version 2.0.6.2861. The strange thing is the abovementioned file was made in version 2.0.6.2831. An older file created in a previous Beta, gave this message: A file created in an even older Beta actually could be exported without a problem. I have hardware acceleration active ('AMD Radeon RX 6600 M' in a Minisforum mini PC) and edited several text styles. Please advice. Staff Sean P Posted November 14, 2024 Staff Posted November 14, 2024 Hi VectorWhiz, Would it be possible for you to attach the Affinity files that are failing to export please. If you could attach the one that is causing the crash, the one that is erroring on export, and the one that is working, that would be great! I've created a Dropbox upload request here: https://www.dropbox.com/request/M1aV25km0ZJS6Q1CnCrC Thanks Quote
VectorWhiz Posted November 15, 2024 Author Posted November 15, 2024 The files are named 'Crash on Export' and 'Export is OK'. Quote Home: https://vectorwhiz.com : : : : Portfolio blog: https://communicats.blogspot.com : : : : https://writhedwrites.blogspot.com/
Staff Sean P Posted November 18, 2024 Staff Posted November 18, 2024 Thanks for the file! It looks like it is being caused by having 'Tagged PDF' enabled. Can you confirm that if you uncheck that option on the PDF Export dialog that it exports for you? Quote
Staff Affinity Info Bot Posted November 18, 2024 Staff Posted November 18, 2024 An issue raised in this thread ("Crash with user file when exporting to Tagged PDF") has now been reported to the developers by the testing team (Ref: AF-5086). Thank you very much for reporting this issue to us. Quote
VectorWhiz Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 @ Sean P: As soon as I open the Export dialogue, the Preview Generation starts and the program crashes within seconds, leaving me unable to to change any setting. VectorWhiz Posted November 19, 2024 Author Posted November 19, 2024 @ Return: Didn't work; crashed even faster, but I appreciate you helping to think of a solution. TPG Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 I didn't see this topic and just posted my own. Has there been a fix for this? I can't export any of my documents . . . Quote
VectorWhiz Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 @ TPG: I hope they are working on it; see comment of Affinity Info Bot, although I do not find the response clear if it includes the problem you and I submitted. I know a bloke that creates a monthly Airbrush Magazine with Affinity Publisher and I certainly hope he is not affected by this problem. I know a bloke that creates a monthly Airbrush Magazine with Affinity Publisher and I certainly hope he is not affected by this problem. I hope so too! I am just really frustrated as I have a completed project I can't export and, since it was created in the beta version, I have no ability to open/work with it in V2 (which makes no sense) but then I spent (wasted) an entire day recreating it in V2 so that I could export it only to have THAT crash and now I have 130 pages of blank pages. I saved it but they just went *poof* - everything seems to be buggy right now . . . I have alternatives but it doesn't give me my time or reputation back. 😞 VectorWhiz 1 Quote
VectorWhiz Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 @ TPG: Even though some on these forums I have seen say that subscribers should not use beta versions, the ones that run into bugs such as this rather severe one, actually assist in resolving the matters. Not using beta versions would take away the reason to issue beta versions all together. The inconvenience encountered by the victims of bugs contributes to debugging the program in the long run, so that continuing to run the quite expensive 'back up programs' of other organisations to keep customers satisfied, in spite of the problems the bugs cause. Because I would assume that we are not the only ones running in to this particular inconvenience, that could have far reaching consequences for both Serif and the users of its programs should the bugs continue to exist. VectorWhiz Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 @ Affinity Info Bot: I submitted a reply after clicking the blue button in your message above, which included an Error message that I received after attempting to Export. Publisher did not crash, but the Export failed. Quote Home: https://vectorwhiz.com : : : : Portfolio blog: https://communicats.blogspot.com : : : : https://writhedwrites.blogspot.com/
