Today's unexpected release of version/patch 2.5.6 probably means that there was a delay with the release of version 2.6 (need for fix and testing of new features - see also the declared complexity and scope of multipage spread), so we probably won't see it for a long time.

We are still adding improvements to 2.6.0 and it will be released when we are satisfied with it, it was always going to be a long beta there is no "delay".

From the perspective of "expectability" and awareness of all forum users, your mention of "without a beta phase" is important to me. The fact that this is information buried somewhere in a single thread cannot be considered sufficient and obvious awareness for other/all users, especially Windows users - see the topic of the aforementioned post.
