iprogram Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Please help me solve the problem. 1. Currently in the 6-month trial period Affinity Photo2 and Affinity Designer2 2. Now, I have been using it about 2 weeks. 3. The problems found are: - Sometimes when opening the program in Affinity Photo2, such as retouching images, for a while, the program always close itself. It happens very often. The time it happens is uncertain. On average, it happens about 9-10 times per hour. - I tried using Affinity Designer2 to work with Vector and it was the same. 4. Initial troubleshooting - I solved the problem by trying to close the service of other programs or turn off Anti-Virus to test what the cause is, but it didn't work. - I solved the problem by updating the graphics card driver and the problem still occurred. - I solved the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but it didn't work. - I try hardware acceleration ON and OFF ,but it still had the same problem. 5. I tried looking at the performance of the resource usage of the machine while in use. None of them use much. 6. The program is very good. I think I will buy it. But the problem that occurs, I don't know how to fix it. It closes itself very often. Sometimes I don't save my work, I open it and use it for 1 minute, I don't have time to save it, the program closes itself and disappears. ** ** I really want to buy it, but I want to know how to solve the problem. ** Has anyone ever encountered this problem? How do I fix it? ** Please give me some advice. ----------- Installation environment ---------- Processor : AMD Ryzen 5 4600H Windows 10 Pro 22H2 (OS build 19045.5011) Ram 24 GB GPU 4 GB (Geforce GTX 1650) Driver Version : 566.14 --- Antivirus : Eset NOD32 reports.rar Quote
Raphael Bonelli Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Hi @iprogram Do you use Freehand Selection Polygonal mode in your workflow? Sometime ago I´ve detected that for some user, using Freenhand Selection tool in the Polygonal mode can make Affinity Photo closes by itself sometime after you use the tool. Quote
iprogram Posted November 13, 2024 Author Posted November 13, 2024 @Raphael Bonelli Thanks for your advice, sometimes I use Freehand Selection Polygonal mode , but sometimes when I open program I just import 2 images in 2 layers and it suddenly close it self with no popup to saving files. Quote
Staff NathanC Posted December 4, 2024 Staff Posted December 4, 2024 Welcome to the forums @iprogram & my apologies for the late response, I've debugged your crash reports provided but have not identified a clear crash trigger/cause thus far, it could be a result of a local environment issue but equally could be a specific app bug triggering a crash related to your workflow. I'd initially suggest a full factory reset of your apps local user data folder: Close all affinity apps Press WIN + R to bring up 'Run' Enter the following: %APPDATA% In here, there should be an 'Affinity' folder, Right click -> Rename it to 'AffinityOLD' Launch Photo 2, activate the app and then see how it performs moving forward If the issue persists, I'd try and make a note of the following: Does the crash occur more often when working in specific file(s), if so can you provide a copy? Can you replicate the crash by performing the same steps or using the same tool in the app, if so can you provide a list of the steps, or even better a screen recording demonstrating the crash? Screen recording help: Many thanks Quote
iprogram Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) Now I have found the cause. It is because when using Freehand Selection Polygonal mode, after doing other tasks for a while, the program will close itself. Fix it by restarting your computer. And never use Freehand Selection Polygonal mode again. It is a prohibited tool for this program. Edited December 8, 2024 by iprogram Quote
