Hi All,

Please, can you tell me how I can make a bottom border in a table cell, smaller than the cell width? The cell is 9 mm width and on both sides there need to be 1 mm space. So the border is 7 mm width.

Thank you so much for your help.

My first thougt is to remove the bottom border of the cell (in table panel). Then apply a paragraph decoration (stroke, in paragraph panel) to the text: indents right and left, 1 mm relative to column.

Hi RM f/g,

Thank you for your suggestions, regretfully it didn't work.

I applied a decoration to a paragraph in a cell. In the "left" and "right" in "Decoration" fields (relative to text) I entered 0,5 mm respectively. Only the character itself is underlined. If using a space, then the space is very small underlined.

What I need is a bottom border which when the cell is empty, the border remains 0,5 or 1 mm from the left and right sides.

I tried many things, but nothing seems to work. What I want, I don't think it is possible in Publisher. So I will draw those fields in Designer.

Your suggestion is very much appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hi Everyone,

I experimented a little bit more with Tables in Affinity Publisher. It is a litle bit complex but I get the result I wanted by having the first column and the third column each a width of 1 mm. Then the second column (in between) get a width of 7 mm. Then I add a bottom border to the cells in the second column. I get exactly what I needed, however I do not find my solution a clean one. As long as you do not need to tab from one cell to another, this works. From the moment you have to tab from one cell to another, there are a lot of extra keypresses. But for the moment, I am OK with this.

In the future, I will create these input rasters with Affinity Designer. With the duplicate tool (pointer tool with return on a selected object) will work faster and better.

Kind Regards,

Chris

I gave it a try and it works for me if I use ‘relative to column’.

@RM f/g,

Try this.

table para style.afpub

All I have is a Paragraph Style with a bottom decoration. Apply it to the cells you want the line in.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
