kamaal010 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 When I copy an object for duplication, the copied object is still in the same parent group. How can I copy without it belonging it to the parent group. I ahve to always ungroup then regroup.. (annoying) Quote
KarinC Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Paste it outside of the group. Select the layer that the group is in, then when you paste it will appear above the layer outside of the group. kamaal010 and Komatös 2 Quote

It is not necessary to dissolve the group. You only need to move the copy out of the group. kamaal010 1 Quote MAC mini M4 | MacOS Sequoia 15.5 | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9060 XT 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.4351) Windows 11 Pro on VMWare Virtual Machine (on Mac) Affinity Suite V 2.6.3 & Beta 2.6 (latest) Interested in a free (selfhosted) PDF Solution? Old Bruce Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Welcome to the forums @kamaal010, If I use Command + C to copy an item it is possible to paste outside of the group by deselecting the object and group. However if I use Command + J to duplicate an object then I get it inside the group. This can be a right royal pain. kamaal010 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. Well, copying and pasting requires a little cooperation on the part of the user, because how is the programme supposed to know where to insert the copy? Should it be inserted 5 layers higher, 3 layers lower or at the beginning or end of the layer list or above or below the group? I think this action is quicker if you do it manually. And when power duplicating (CTRL+J) you usually want to arrange the duplicates in some way. kamaal010 and R C-R 2 Quote MAC mini M4 | MacOS Sequoia 15.5 | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9060 XT 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.4351) Windows 11 Pro on VMWare Virtual Machine (on Mac) Affinity Suite V 2.6.3 & Beta 2.6 (latest) Interested in a free (selfhosted) PDF Solution?
