Hi,

I've been experiencing frequent crashes in Affinity Photo 2, specifically when attempting the following actions:

  • Exporting files
  • Merging layers
  • Using the Liquify tool

These crashes completely freeze my system, forcing me to restart. It’s frustrating as I was hoping Affinity Photo 2 would be a viable alternative to Photoshop, but these issues are proving quite disruptive to my workflow.

Affinity Version: 2.5.5.2636 (Retail)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro (version 10.0.26100)

I would appreciate any updates on whether these issues are being addressed.

I'm also experiencing this same freeze in these same conditions with the same OS version.

You go to export or maybe do some cropping, and then the mouse might start doing a slow-warpy-dragging across the screen before the mouse seems to recover and be able to move around, but only the mouse can move around; the system is actually frozen, you can't click on anything, and you can't even alt+ctrl+del to the task manager, only option is to hard reset button on the machine.

These problems completely went away after disabling hardware acceleration in the application. Win 11 64-bit, 7800X3D, 4090, 64gb ddr5. Everything else is stable on the machine from games to productivity.

Hi @Sohail & @Kodagraphy

Please could you try disabling Hardware Acceleration as Tullerian mentioned above as it may solve this issue for you. If you still run into issues let me know and I'll look into this further with you.

Thanks
C
