I want to rotate the entire canvas 90 degrees.

I see the Rotate Left/Rotate Right option under the View menu, but these just rotate the view, not the canvas it's self - when you save or export, the artwork is still in it's original position.

I can rotate the artwork or layers with the canvas it's self but this means things get cropped as my canvas is long and thin.

I can't for the life of me find how to do this. Can anyone help?

For example Document Setup, swap document size H to W, and W to H.

Or create Artboard from document, select Artboard in Layers panel, and Rotate (Transform panel or menu Layer, Transform).

Or menu Edit in Photo (which has directly function), and menu Document, Rotate...

You can add an artboard the size of your document, then rotate the artboard.

To add an artboard:

  1. On the Tools panel, select the Artboard Tool.
  2. On the context toolbar, from the Size pop-up menu, select Document to add an artboard at the current document's dimensions to the canvas.
  3. On the context toolbar, click Insert Artboard.

After the artboard is created, select the Move Tool, select the artboard in the Layers Panel, and select desired rotate option on the Toolbar.

That doesn't rotate the AD canvas when I try it.

We cannot do what you want to do. We need to open the Designer file in Photo and use its Document > Rotate ... function.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Yes, but as the OP writes, after rotating the layer would not crop its contents.

I've listed three ways you can solve your need to rotate content. If you don't have APhoto, you can't use its canvas rotation feature. If he doesn't want to convert the document to an Artboard, he can't use Transform to rotate it. Then the only option is to rotate the layers and "adjust" the dimensions of the document.
