JetsOnATrain Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Hey, I started my trial of Affinity Designer recently after being a long time PagePlus user. There are several quality of life features I loved in PagePlus that I am unable to find in Designer, if you could direct me towards these features if they are there that would be great. 1\ Placing tabs on the top bar I have been unable to find a method to place my tabs on the top bar as was available in PagePlus which was a massive game changer for me. 1.5\ Unable to move the Toolbar to the bottom of the screen 2\ I cannot get the pen/pencil tools to work in increments less than 45 degrees. I do some isometric design work and it would really help to quickly draw 30 degree lines. 3\ I can't find anywhere where I can rebind the tools (even in the shortcuts section). I would like to bind the Move tool to ESC so I can quickly exit any other tool like in PagePlus and V is a very awkward default bind for what I want. Thanks for any help you can provide! Quote

You cannot arrange them as shown in your screenshot. 3 hours ago, JetsOnATrain said: 1.5\ Unable to move the Toolbar to the bottom of the screen Correct. It is at the top. 3 hours ago, JetsOnATrain said: 2\ I cannot get the pen/pencil tools to work in increments less than 45 degrees. I'm not completely sure what you mean. They will draw at any angle. And you can make straight lines at any angle: click the starting point, shift-click the end-point. But there is no function to say "draw this line at 30 degrees". You can establish various kinds of Grids, which may help: Help: https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/DesignAids/grids.html Quote 3\ I can't find anywhere where I can rebind the tools (even in the shortcuts section). Generally you don't need to "exit" other tools. You just switch to the tool you want to use, when you want to use it. But as far as I know, you can't bind Esc to anything. It's functions are hard-wired.
