I copy-pasted some images with a tight text wrap setting on them from Affinity Publisher to Affinity Photo. The text wrap effect on the (embedded) images persists in Photo, affecting new frame text.

I can't work out how, working within Photo, to either remove the text wrap from an image or override it.

In Publisher I would go into the object's text wrap settings in the toolbar (not there in Photo), or set 'Ignore text wraps' in the text frame panel (doesn't seem to exist in Photo).

If there's no way to remove the text wrap effect within the program, should the fact that it successfully copy-pastes along with the image data be considered a bug?

I have two workarounds, neither great:

Working in Publisher, remember to temporarily change the text wrap before copy-pasting, then remember to change it back

Working in in Photo, destructively export and re-import the affected image layer

I am curious why you're copying from Publisher, and Pasting into Photo, and then adding text. What additional Photo features are you using that Publisher lacks?

But for an additional workaround that is probably simpler: In Photo, use File > Edit in Publisher, then turn off the text-wrap setting for the image, then return to Photo using File > Edit in Photo.

I'll agree, though, that there should be an easier way to override that behavior.

If you use menu “Edit → Paste Special... → PNG” or “Edit → Paste Special... → Device Independent Bitmap”, rather than the more usual Paste functionality, then the text wrap should not come over with the image.

Good suggestion for Windows users, Garry. Thanks.

Thank you, both methods work. @walt.farrell's process is essentially what I needed, because it means I can make edits to an embedded pasted image without concern for its source, as I could in any other context.

I was making promo images using graphics from a WIP book, and one such image needed a text banner. Some of the graphics in the book had layer FX, so I copy-pasted rather than just using the original image files.
