Black Background & Crashes on Affinity Photo After Laptop Upgrade

Hi everyone,

Black shade background screen issues on Affinity Photo after upgrading to a new . I have been using Affinity Photo on an older laptop Windows 10 for years without any screen problems, even with a 4th-gen i5. Now, on my new laptop (10th-gen i5, with 16GBRAM), Affinity Photo keeps crashing in black and going unresponsive, especially when I do more than just drawing lines.

 

Anyone else experienced these black issues? Any advice?

Hello @mercyjoyce and welcome to the forums.

Please deactivate the hardware acceleration in Affinity Photo. Go to Menu Edit -> Settings -> Performance.

At the same time, I recommend updating the drivers for the iGPU.

Thank you for the quick response! I deactivated the hardware acceleration in Affinity Photo and updated the GPU drivers as you suggested. It seems to be running more smoothly now.
