I am not sure about all of the other Measurement options for the Ruler, but if the ruler is set to Points, and the Document Unit is set to Points, then the Ruler measurements should be based on the custom DPI setting, rather than  a default setting of 72.

If you're intending to use the Ruler as a general measurement guide, it becomes more difficult to work with documents if your workflow relies on this document configuration.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, but as far as I know "pt" is a physical unit of measurement, like inch, mm etc. and there are 72 pts per inch. This is not dependent on the document DPI.

Yeah, I guess you're right, but the pt ruler uses intervals of 72 which is for web and displays. I ended up going with Pixel instead.

I think you are confusing Px (pixels) with Pts (points). There are 72 points in one inch, regardless of the DPI. Make two files each 10 inches square, one at 300 DPI and one at 72 DPI. Change the units of measurement for both to Points and note that each of them is 720 points by 720 points.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
