Beck Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Hi everyone, Is there a way to export artboards using Export Persona at different dimensions? For example, I have multiple artboards at 6000x6000px but want to export these at 2000x2000px. We want to keep the large artboard size for the design because once design is final, we then want to export at large size. During revisions though, we just want to export at smaller size and if we can do this straight from the software, it will save us having to manually compress files. The reason why we aren't designing with smaller size artboards is because we have had many issues in the past of our exports outputting such low quality and not suitable for high quality print. We've had to redesign into larger specs many times. Hope there's a way to streamline this! Quote
lacerto Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 You should be able to define export size in Export Persona by using w and h parameters, like this (the video clip does not have artboard defined, but that is not important): export_scaled.mp4 I am not sure if this can be done when exporting e.g. to PDF, but in that case you should be able to print to file (e.g. Microsoft Print to PDF, Adobe PDF, etc.) and scale by fitting to the print size. steday Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Hello In the export Persona you can choose a scale factor. Affinity provide preselect scale factor that you can override. The screenshot is for Affinity Designer, but it's the same on Photo. Hope it will help you . Quote

Just one extra question, is there a way to enter dimensions only once and have it apply to all selected slices? Sometimes i have multiple artboards to export, for example I had 3 in this example and entered the dimensions manually for each. It would be great if there was a way to enter it for one and it apply automatically for the rest: Quote

Not* directly (afaik) – but you can save a setting and recall it for a bunch of selected slices. *Advantage: as preset it is available for other documents, too. lacerto Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 You can also copy a setting, e.g. 599w, 200h on the Clipboard and then select multiple artboards and have that setting pasted from Clipboard, and have it added or replacing existing definitions, in one go, and then export all slices in one go. Interesting. It doesn't work on mac in V1. But I wonder how does AD know which slices should be used when pasting (e.g. all checked – or the currently selected/highlighted only), and, if all or some slices need multiple size entries, does AD accordingly paste in the second fields if you copied from a second field? lacerto Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 I think it is designed to work slice-wise (one at a time) so when you copy a setup, all specs within one slide are copied on the Clipboard, and then you can paste the setup into other slices (all that are selected) either replacing or adding the specs of the source slide. IMO it operates similarly in v1 as in v2, but I have only just played with the tool and not used in any real production. Quote
thomaso Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Ah, thanks for clarifying. You seem to talk about the icons/buttons in the Slices panel. (not copy/paste via commands CMD- or CTRL-C and -V) Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6

Hi there, are you able to share the steps on how to do this? Thanks! Quote

Thanks for your insight, I've managed to save an Export Preset through the Menu > Export option: Although, when I head to Export Persona > Select my Slices, I'm not able to find the saved Preset under Export Preset dropdown. It's not available for me to select. Is there an extra step to make it show here so I can export multiple slices using this preset at one time? Quote

There are two different types of "Export preset" (yes, confusing UI), one, in the "Export Options" panel of the Export persona (+ in the main menu "File" > "Export…") regards the file type, colour, export quality etc., the other, in the Slices panel only, concerns that preset AND the export size.
