Torquedude Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 I know there are several topics and request on this feature but I believe it is important to re-iterate it. I love this software. It is feature rich, clean and easy to use. You guys have done an amazing work. Sure there are external tools that offer this ability however I do believe there is a need and desire to have something natively within Affinity Photo itself. I personally need to be able to convert any of my pngs for a project to dds with ease, batch processing is the goal. I'm sure you have quite a bit going on but if there was any potential for discussion internally on this topic it would really help us who need this type of support. Keep up the amazing work! Quote

Just curious, what is the importance and benefit of creating another duplicate thread, as opposed to adding the exact same text to one of the many existing threads, as stated in the forum rules? Please search first, it may well be that you have a suggestion that others also want. If so add your feelings to their thread. Torquedude Posted November 7, 2024 Author Posted November 7, 2024 Not being heard. If there is a formal response to something many of us need and have already requested then there would be no need. This is one of the most important features missing for those in game development that need a 1 stop shop solution. I did search first and I saw those post are all the way back to 2017. Thanks. Quote

The benefit is that, with some luck, it might actually be seen and help drive home the fact that this is still - eight years and counting - an important feature that many need to do their job. As opposed to dumping it in the virtual trash heap of existing requests that Affinity no doubt have flagged as 'Ignore'. Quote
fde101 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 It also creates a bigger mess and extra work for the developers and others involved in monitoring the site, resulting in less time to actually develop and test the software. Adding to the existing thread would still have the effect of "bumping" it to the top and raising some additional attention to it, while creating a lot less clutter and avoiding an extra fork in the discussion which can cause comments to not be seen by developers who get lost in the maze of duplicates while trying to review a request, who may only see one or two of the threads and miss others entirely. In other words, there is far more potential for this to backfire than for it to actually have the desired effect in any way more than adding to the original thread would have. I wonder just how many of the three million odd users of Affinity software are actually game developers. I'm not saying that DDS support (whatever it is) shouldn't be added at some point, but I'm sure that there are many other, long awaited features, that would benefit a lot more users! There is clearly a desire among what appears to be a relatively small group of users, but is there really a need? You can use the ‘Convert Formats…’ option on the ‘File > Automate’ submenu in Photopea to batch convert to DDS from about five dozen supported formats. fde101 and PaulEC 2 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
