Staff EmT Posted November 5, 2024 Staff Posted November 5, 2024 Hi @ronnyb Are you using a live filter? Destructive filters do not have Preserve Alpha ronnyb 1 Quote Contact Support | List of V2 FAQ's | Affinity Online Help | Affinity Video Tutorials | Beta Software Forums | Bug Reporting Guidance
ronnyb Posted November 5, 2024 Author Posted November 5, 2024 Ah ok that explains it… why not? Quote 2021 16” Macbook Pro w/ M1 Max 10c cpu /24c gpu, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, macOS Sequoia 15.1 2018 11" iPad Pro w/ A12X cpu/gpu, 256 GB, iPadOS 18.1
Staff EmT Posted November 5, 2024 Staff Posted November 5, 2024 Hi @ronnyb For destructive filters you can preserve alpha by disabling editing of the alpha channel in the Channels page, so there is no need for a checkbox on the filter dialog. ronnyb 1 Quote Contact Support | List of V2 FAQ's | Affinity Online Help | Affinity Video Tutorials | Beta Software Forums | Bug Reporting Guidance

Oh, I see… Except that for usability purposes it wud be nice having the alpha control in every filter, no need to seek it elsewhere… if it’s the way live filters behave, why not extend that UI to non-live layers and keep things consistent? A live Gaussian blur to simply blur edges, not colors. Like MS Office / PowerPoint can do since 25 years. Still almost impossible in Any Affinity app (as live filter). ronnyb 1 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.
