Lamoen Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 I am a bit confused because I think the two apps have much functionality overlapping. I want to design characters that can be used for an animation like Wolfwalkers. I think both apps can do the job for what I see, but which one is best suited for this kind of job? GarryP Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Welcome to the forums @Harry van Lamoen You might get lots of different advice about this but that’s really only something that you can decide as we don’t know how you want to make what you want to make. If you want to create vector art then Designer will be better for you as it has more vector tools. If you want to create bitmap art and have more control over the image pixels then Photo will be better for you as it has more tools for that sort of thing. If you want a bit of both then Designer might be enough, or it might not, depending on your preferred artistic process. It’s a bit like asking: “What’s the best way for me to make stuff?” The answer being that it depends on how you want to make it and what you want to make it from. My recommendation would be to take advantage of the extended free trials; install them both and see which is best for you. Note: None of the Affinity applications have any animation functionalities so you will need to take that into account when making a decision. Lamoen 1 Quote
