Yuli Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 If there's only one icon for the shapes tool in the tools panel, when you change shape tool with shortcut the icon doesn't update. Steps to reproduce: - Customize the tools panel leaving out all the shape tools that are not the "grouped shape tool" icon (I mean, leave only the general shape tool) - Change to a different shape with keyboard shortcut to see how the tool changes, but the icon doesn't. When activating the shortcut for changing the shape tool, the icon doesn't get updated, but the tool is active, you can see how the shape tool icon doesn't match the context label "Rectangle" (the expected behavior would be to see the square icon instead of the triangle). I discovered this because I want to have just one icon for the shape tool (the grouped one), and I have the letter `c` shortcut to switch between square, circle and triangle. In Affinity Photo this bug doesn't happen, it works as expected! Changing the icon when switching between different shape tools with keyboard. Affinity Designer 2.5.5 Windows 11 Quote
walt.farrell Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 I think that in Photo the "general" Shape tool includes the Rectangle, and so it acts as you desire. But in Designer, that tool doesn't include the rectangle, by design, and so I would not expect that tool icon to change to the Rectangle. I don't think it's a bug. carl123 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. walt.farrell Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 However, I've since found a couple of other topics about this, where the Serif team has attached a bug tag, AF-3897 so perhaps they do view it as a discrepancy that should be fixed.
