Joining curves

I create two simple curves using the vector brush, I select both curves, and each curve has a ‘head and a tail"   I then select the two nodes I wish to join (head of one, tail of the other) and tap the join button (iPad).  However, instead of a straight line connecting the two curves, I get a huge v shaped curve that I can’t get rid of. Have watched videos, but no help.

Hi @rockclimber apologies for the delayed response.

I'm not observing this behaviour when using the node tool 'Join' function on two basic curves, could you provide a basic sample file/screen recording?

I think I have found the problem. I was confusing the loop closure command with the join command.
