wintermute Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 I wanted prevent hyphenation in selected word. so i checked No break option in character control window but finally i got this kind of results there is no hyphen in reprrezentaci_tki word but whole paragraph dont change composition sa results is unacceptable. Is it a bug or mayby no break option is not fully implemented? Quote
walt.farrell Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 What, exactly, did you apply "no break" to, @wintermute? Just the text string you show highlighted in both screenshots? If so, you've included a trailing space after the "i", which means that "reprezentanci_tki instrytucji" would all have to fit on one line, which may explain what you got. In any case, the simple solution for your desire should be to insert a soft (discretionary) hyphen at the beginning of that string, before the "r". You should be able to do that via the Text > Insert menu. wintermute Posted November 3, 2024 Author Posted November 3, 2024 But problem with ugly paragraph composition is In line above selected word not below so selected space character doesn't matter. I Check it in a few different situation and no break option doesn't change paragraph composition in upper lines. Edit If I check "no brak" option it should cause recomposing whole paragraph - in lines with, above and below checked word. But now It doesn't affect to line above "no break word". Quote
Oufti Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 In Affinity, composition is made line per line. There is no rule that considers the paragraph in a whole – compared to LaTeX or InDesign that do. Hence, if there are not enough characters to fill a justified line, word spaces grow up in that line. To avoid this, you could make your lines longer (or choose a smaller body size) or you can set your text right ragged, instead of justifying it. walt.farrell 1 Quote Affinity Suite 2.5 – Monterey 12.7.5 – MacBookPro 14" 2021 M1 Pro 16Go/1To I apologise for any approximations in my English. Seon Jae, Jeon Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I don't know why publishers don't implement word splitting functionality yet. I use Korean and I rarely use publisher because it doesn't have this feature. Please implement this feature as soon as possible. Thank you. Quote
