I just  opened a legacy document from Designer version 1  in V2.5.5 Mac. I am seeing a lot of orange dotted lines in the layer panel on some groups, curves, and even background images. When I mouse hover over any of them I see the screenshot about “Unlinked Attributes”. What is this?

Those items with the orange lines (broken or not) would be Symbols. When you have unsynchronized some aspects of the Symbols the lines are broken like that, and the tooltip tells you which attributes/aspects of the Symbols are no longer synchronized. This is standard Symbols processing.

Some unlinked attributes are normal in most situations but that looks like a lot

If you are seeing the same unlinked attributes using the V1 version of the software then what you see in V2 is correct

But if not, then something may be amiss

Can you attach that V1 document to the forum so we can inspect it in V1 and V2 to see if there is an issue or not

This has nothing to do with symbols. I see it on group names, individual curves, and even imported background jpg images. Unfortunately I can’t share the file. Saving the file in V2 and reopening it still has all those notations.

Do you still have V1?

If so, if you hover over one of the orange affected layers do you see the same unlinked attributes?

Yes, I just reinstalled V1. It appears that file is just corrupted somehow. The previous saved version is fine in both old and new versions. Save often, save incremental, saves the day. :)
