fuz Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 HI the most uptodate beta 2.6.0.2805 version on windows 10 does not paste copied images from browser Firefox. What happens is instead of the image the web address is pasted as text. I use this feature for refference in my work flow. Quote
Hangman Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Hi @fuz and welcome to the forums, This is working for me on Windows 10 in 2.6.0.2805... Does it work if you hold the Ctrl Key down while dragging the image to your Affinity file? If not, can you provide the URL of the website from which you're copying the image so we can test it? This is something we do have logged (although isn't a new issue to the beta) and I think is potentially down to a 'format' (FileDrop) Firefox adds to the clipboard. If you go to Edit > Paste Special and select Device Independant Bitmap it should allow you to the paste the image onto your document Quote
Staff Affinity Info Bot Posted October 24, 2024 Staff Posted October 24, 2024 An issue raised in this thread ("Copy and pasting image from FireFox pastes the file address") has now been reported to the developers by the testing team (Ref: AF-4808). Thank you very much for reporting this issue to us. Quote

fuz Posted October 24, 2024 Author Posted October 24, 2024 (edited) Hi thanks for your replys, Should of mentioned Its for Designer and Publisher don't know about Photo as I don't often use it. I haven't had this problem in any other beta version. So if I drag and drop, something I didn't realise I could do, the image appears, if I copy image thats where I get the text box with the web address for the image. It seems to be any image format. fuz Posted October 24, 2024 Author Posted October 24, 2024 Yes although it seems to be any image on any website. most of the images I copy and paste are from duckduckgo search. this is the link to the image that first noticed it after the beta update, as I say I haven't had this problem with any other beta. The issue doesn't happen on the stantard release 2.5 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Morris.dancing.at.wells.arp.jpg Quote
Hangman Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 I don't have DuckDuckGo installed but certainly, from Chrome on Windows and Chrome and Firefox on Mac I can happily Copy and Paste, Drag and Ctrl Drag the image without issue to both Publisher and Designer... I'm unsure if there are any issues or restrictions when doing so from other Browsers... I'd be surprised if there were especially from a Wikipedia page... _Th Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Confirmed for me. Win 11 23H2/Firefox 131.0.3 Example image: https://images.pexels.com/photos/9672817/pexels-photo-9672817.jpeg Right click, copy Paste into a Photo 2.6 Beta document: pastes the URL Paste into a Photo 2.5.5 document: pastes the image as expected Sean P 1 Quote
Hangman Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Hi @_Th, I believe this is a Browser-specific issue... If you use Paste Special in Publisher after copying the image from both Firefox and Chrome (and I assume DuckDuckGo) you'll see... Firefox Left | Chrome Right If after copying from Firefox, you select Device Independent Bitmap from Publisher's Paste Special dialog, the image will paste as an image rather than pasting the URL... M-Tee Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Is it possible to map a shortcut directly to one of these options? 95% of the time, I want to paste as device independent bitmap (exact pixels on my clipboard) regardless of dpi metadata. Paste Special is mappable, but I still need to manually select from the this. Quote
PaulEC Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 This all seems to get rather complicated, why not just use the download link under the image? 😉 Quote Acer XC-895 : Core i5-10400 Hexa-core 2.90 GHz : 32GB RAM : Intel UHD Graphics 630 : Windows 11 Home Affinity Publisher 2 : Affinity Photo 2 : Affinity Designer 2 : (latest release versions) on desktop and iPad "Beware of false knowledge, it is more dangerous than ignorance."
