Subject & Object Select Crashes iPad App

Recommended Posts

Just installed the iPad Photo 2.6 beta and installed the necessary ML files. Since this was exactly the upgrade I was hoping for, I immediately tested it. Both the “Select Subject” option and the Object Selection tool, when chosen, will result in a few seconds of apparent “thought” followed by an unceremonious crash. The app goes black and closes back to the iPad home screen. I tried to provide a screen recording, but the crash seems to have crashed the screen record process as well.

I have re-booted the iPad, force quit and re-started the app, and neither of these affected the outcome.

I’ve not yet tried the new machine learning selection options on my desktop. I’m still hoping!

I got a couple of odd crashes initially, @smadell, but this function seems to be basically working for me.

Does it crash with any image you work on, or just with specific images?

Good morning @walt.farrell. I tried both the subject and object selection on a few (3?) images, and it crashed each time. Also, as stated, I have only tried this on my iPad. I will try it out on my desktop Mac in an hour or so, when I have access.

I also copied and pasted this post into the (more appropriate) thread in the “New Features…” Topic, where it should have been placed originally.

Hi @smadell

I have replied to your other post about this also.
There is a known issue on Mac and iOS where the app can crash if the install button is pressed more than once or if both models are installed at the same time.
Can you try installing one model and then the other and it should be fine.

The issue "Crash after installing Machine Learning Models when Install is clicked multiple times" (REF: AF-4720) has been fixed by the developers in the latest beta build (2.6.0.2831). The fix is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.
