Trying to import content that is part of an Excel spreadsheet - not the whole document or even a whole tab, just a specific block of cells. The Place command doesn't appear to be built for that, and copy/paste seems to interpret it as text - even if I first make a table in Publisher the same size and shape and then try to paste the content in. (Which in any case I shouldn't have to do.)

Even if it's from another table in Publisher, this doesn't always work well. (E.g. if there's merged cells involved God knows what will happen, and even if there aren't it often starts, not in the cell I selected, but in the last cell of the previous row). But at least it works in something that rhymes with the expected way. From other programs, or at least Excel, this doesn't seem to work at all.

To copy/paste: set up the table in Publisher, Copy the source material, Select the table (NOT any cell, just the entire table), Paste WIthout Formatting. Probably won't handle merged cells well, but does circumvent some issues.
