Juc1
Hi all, The bottom of my image has some text which I don't want so I used Rectangular Marquee tool to select from a higher part of the image, then Layer > Duplicate Selection and then moved the new layer down to cover the text - but how do I get rid of the rectangular border? I have tried the various blend modes but they don't help. This is a frequent problem I have when duplicating a selection. Thanks...

GarryP
This looks like you have taken a copy of a lighter area and moved it over a darker area and you are seeing the difference in shades between the two, which is expected. To make the difference less noticeable you might like to try using the Inpainting Brush Tool. The video supplied by Return above should be useful, but I’ve also attached a video which should be closer to your particular situation. (My machine is slow so the Inpainting process takes a little while to complete.) You can re-apply the Inpainting Brush as many times as you want to get the paper better ‘blended’. 2024-10-20 13-32-11.mp4 Edited October 20 by GarryP Added video. carl123
Inpainting Brush Tool Blur Brush Tool Smudge Brush Tool Clone Brush Tool Will all have an effect to one degree or other Be sure to first merge the patch piece down onto the main layer for best results Juc1 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Ldina
@Juc1 For a better initial match (if copying and pasting areas), you can try using the "Patch Tool". This allows you to select the area you want to patch/replace, then move your mouse cursor around until you find a more suitable area to patch 'from'. You'll still probably need to use the tools mentioned previously, but this may make it a bit simpler. Just another option.
