separating scanned document with multiple images

Is it possible, in a future update, to add the function to separate multiple photos on a scanned document into separate images?  Something like PS has in the Automate section.  Not all scanners have this built-in feature and it would be a nice feature to have.  I use the lasso tool to separate images then copy and slice method now.  But this is cumbersome and time consuming.  Just a thought......
