Is there way to get the workflow similar to smart objects in photoshop? I want to able to group some pixel layers together and edit then in a separate window like we do in photoshop by double clicking on it.

Hello @Vishal Pundir and welcome to the forum.

The concept of smart objects does not exist in the Affinity apps but there is something similar. You can place Affinity documents in other Affinity documents. When you double click on such an object you can edit in a seperate tab, then close it and the placed entity is updated. If you have multiple entities of that document embedded they are all updated.

The caveat is that you cannot select a couple of layers and turn them into a placed Affintiy document (as Photoshop offers to turn them into a smart object).

What you can do is copy the layers that you want to bring into a placed Affintiy document and then select 'File > New from Clipboard'. Then save it as a seperate file and drag it into your original design. Admitteldy this is not too productive but the result is basically the same as using smart objects. The advantage is, you can use these files in multiple projects and you can send them via email to a coworking person. Things you can't do with smart objects  🙂
