Phil R Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 (edited) Hi I bought earlier this year a Leica Q3 which I enjoy using for its ease of use and quality. I have found however that the images, when loaded on Affinity, have a small vignetting in each corner and a narrow bright stripe down on vertical edge. This is despite updating Affinity updates to include the Q3. The image quality does not seem to have deteriorated but I need to crop out each corner; a task not always beneficial. I visited the Leica store in Sydney, where I purchased the camera, and uploaded Q3 images from the memory card into the store Photoshop software. There were no vignetting etc on those images. I conclude that there is no issue with the camera but Affinity is not presenting the images in a totally clear upload. Are you able to offer a suggestion/explanation for the problem I am experiencing? Has anyone with a Q3 also experienced this problem? I use Affinity Photo 2.5.5 on an Apple iMac using Sequoia 15.1. walt.farrell Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Welcome to the Affinity forums. When you open an image that has that problem, is the lens properly recognized? If you're using RAW images, in the application Settings, under Assistant Options, and Develop Assistant, what Lens Correction option do you have set? -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop 1: Windows 11 Pro 24H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Phil R Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 Hi Walt, thank you for your welcome and response. I could not see a Lens Correction option under the Develop Assist trading. What I discovered under Filters/Distort/Lens correction was two drop down boxes. One for "Camera", I scrolled down and chose Q2, as Q3 is not listed. The other is "Lens" which gave a few options and I chose "Leica Q2 & compatibles. That corrected the image but only applies to that particular one. Each image requires the same process to make the correction. It is better than cropping out the vignetting and provides a complete canvas to work with. I understood that Infinity had incorporated the Q3 for compatibility in a firmware update, but it is not listed with the other Leica cameras to choose from. I do not know if Affinity can address this issue but maybe I have not understood your suggested action. I am surely not the only Q3 owner to use Affinity.
David in Яuislip Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Lensfun entries at https://github.com/lensfun/lensfun/blob/master/data/db/compact-leica.xml have no vignetting data Adode lcp files, usually Plan B, are not available for either the Q2 or Q3 The attached xml will auto detect the Q3 camera and apply distortion and tca corrections to raw files. It is based on the lensfun entry for the Q2 as the lens is the same Try adding it to the Lens Profiles Folder, restart Photo and hope for the best. The Develop Assistant needs to be set like below LeicaQ3.xml Microsoft Windows 11 Home, Intel i7-1360P 2.20 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Intel Iris Xe Affinity Photo - 24/05/20, Affinity Publisher - 06/12/20, KTM Superduke - 27/09/10
Phil R Posted October 9, 2024 Author Posted October 9, 2024 Thank you David et al I required assistance from my 29 year old live at home teenager with the download, and it worked! My photographic world is at peace. Cheers! Phil
